Glashütte Original Brings Back the Sixties in Gorgeous Gold Edition with Small Seconds Subdial

Glashütte Original’s Sixties line, which was introduced a couple of years ago as part of the Vintage Collection, is an impressive homage to the eponymous decade: The domed sapphire crystal, the slightly curved hands along with a round, delicately crafted case create a subtle retro look that is as elegant as it is unmistakable. Now the German manufacture extends the collection, which comprises of three-hand models–either with or without the brand’s signature Panorama Date–a chronograph, and colorful limited editions, with the Sixties Small Second. This debutante is presented in a pink gold case with a diameter of 42mm and a height of 12.4mm.

The slightly recessed subsidiary seconds are set within a galvanic silver dial and decorated with a fine vinyl-type finish. The hands and indexes are color-matched to the pink gold case. The sapphire crystal, which is anti-reflective on both sides, offers great legibility. Its domed shape is echoed in the light curvature of the dial and hands.

As is the case with all timepieces of the Glashütte based manufactory, a genuine movement ticks at the heart of Sixties Small Seconds. Finished meticulously to the high standard of traditional Saxon watchmaking, the self-winding 39-60 caliber beats with 28,800 vph. Its refined decorations, including Glashütte stripes, bevelled edges, polished screws, and skeletonized rotor with the signature double-G logo, come to life through the sapphire crystal case back.

The Sixties Small Seconds is attached to a green Louisiana leather strap and will be available from June 15, 2023, with pricing marked at $16,000.
