The highly talented beagle, who communicates via dance steps, is known for his diverse cultural interests and sporting activities – from sophisticated painting and world literature (Tolstoy’s War and Peace) to figure skating and surfing (black sunglasses included). Since 1950, Snoopy has been the faithful companion of Charlie Brown in Charles M. Schulz’s Peanuts.

To celebrate the 55th anniversary of the Seiko 5 Sports collection, two stainless-steel Limited Editions based on the SKX Sports Style and Field Sports Style models are now being released. The images of the Peanuts character have been adapted from the original cartoon strips in newspapers.

On the dial of the SRPK25K1, Snoopy is a surfer on a custom Seiko 5 Sports design board. The caseback depicts the beagle in action. With a diameter of 38 millimeters, the watch, which is limited to 8,900 pieces, is water resistant to 10 bar. A nice detail is the font on the unidirectional bezel, which is inspired by the original Peanuts font.

Pricing for the Seiko ref. SRPK25K1 is marked at approximately $430 when converted to USD.

The design of the SRPK27K1 shows Snoopy flying through the air as a helicopter, with his beagle ears serving as propellers. His sidekick Woodstock sits on his lap depicted as a pilot.

Limited to 6,500 pieces, the caseback of the watch features a parachute in the original Seiko 5 Sports design. This newcomer measures 36 mm in diameter and is also water resistant to 10 bar. Both watches are driven by Seiko’s 4R36 self-winding caliber and feature Lumibrite on their dials for nighttime legibility. They will be available from June 2023.

Pricing for the Seiko ref. SRPK27K1 is marked at approximately $410 when converted to USD.

Meet the Urban Field, Yema’s Contemporary Take on the Field Watch https://www.watchtime.com/wristwatch-industry-news/meet-the-urban-field-yemas-contemporary-take-on-the-field-watch/ https://www.watchtime.com/wristwatch-industry-news/meet-the-urban-field-yemas-contemporary-take-on-the-field-watch/#respond Thu, 22 Jun 2023 12:55:00 +0000 https://www.watchtime.com/?p=149685 Launched last month, Yema’s new Urban Field watch embodies the contemporary adventurer’s need for versatility, melding tool watch functionality with the sophisticated design code of a dress watch. Its military-inspired design is characterized by an ultra-readable dial that is available in five versatile colorways.

Creating versatility in its new design, Yema is offering the Urban Field in two diameters: 37.5mm and 40mm. Each maintains a 7.8mm thickness and is made from polished steel. The sleek visual quality of the exterior is one that Yema accomplished for the sake of versatility, making it easy to wear everyday as well as with a suit. The Urban Field is available with three distinct strap and bracelet options, each offering a customizable approach to the military-style adventurer watch.

The dial is inspired by field military dials, known for their straightforward layout and utmost legibility. All of the odd numbered hours are marked with Arabic numerals, while the remaining values are represented by geometric indices. Each of the hour markers and the hands are coated in Super-LumiNova that make them visible in low light conditions. Completing the functionality of the dial is a seconds track that spans across its periphery. Aesthetically, the dial has a dynamic texture created by sandblasting that contrasts the smooth polishing of its exterior. For coloring, Yema is making the new Urban Field in five new hues, including white, black, vibrant blue, lush medium green, and a mustard yellow-gold.

Powering the Urban Field is the caliber SW210-1b from Sellita. It is a hand-wound mechanical movement with an accuracy rate of  +/- 7 seconds daily. Capable of indicating hours, minutes, and seconds, the mechanism offers a power reserve of 45 hours. The movement is visible via an exhibition caseback, revealing its upgraded Elaboré and decorated finish inclusive of blue screws and Geneva stripes.

Pricing for the Yema Urban Field begins at $1,099 for the iteration presented on a Bonklip steel bracelet and $1,249 when secured by a Beads of rice steel bracelet. Each option comes with an additional Urban leather strap as well.

Nivada Reimagines the Original Antarctic Diver https://www.watchtime.com/wristwatch-industry-news/nivada-reimagines-the-original-antarctic-diver/ https://www.watchtime.com/wristwatch-industry-news/nivada-reimagines-the-original-antarctic-diver/#respond Wed, 21 Jun 2023 12:46:00 +0000 https://www.watchtime.com/?p=149905 Nivada is paying homage to its original Antarctic Diver model with a contemporary reinterpretation of the classic diver. First debuting at the end of the 1950’s, the watch was born in the golden age of undersea exploration and has since become a flagship model for the brand. The current version sports an enhanced version of the historic design aesthetic and is supported by modernized dive technology. With an increased water resistance and improved movement, the new Antarctic Diver is bringing Nivada’s history to life.

For the exterior, Nivada opts for satin-brushed steel with a 38mm diameter. Completing its moderate footprint, the watch wears 12.9mm high on the wrist. The unidirectional bezel is a black ceramic insert with bold contrasting white minute markers and tick marks. On the reverse, the caseback is engraved with an image of a penguin along with the brand and collection names. With its screw-down crown at 3 o’clock, the case offers water resistance up to 200 meters.

For the dial, Nivada opts for a crisp black hue as the backdrop for the recreation of the original layout. The hands and indexes are a patinated “cream latte” shade that contrast the dark dial quite well. Honoring the previous dial design even further, the newcomer includes discrete cross hairs marking the four quadrants of the dial. The date window is located at 3 o’clock and is topped with a magnifier to increase its legibility. Completing the retro-inspired aesthetic, the Nivada Automatic logo is situated proudly at 12 o’clock, while the Antarctic-Diver name is written in script at 6 o’clock.

Ticking inside of the Antarctic Diver is the caliber SOPROD P024, a three-hand self-winding mechanism. Capable of displaying hours, minutes, and seconds, the movement has a power reserve of approximately 38 hours.

The new Nivada Antarctic Diver retails for $900. It is available with five strap variations and five bracelet variations, all available on the brand’s website.

Kross Studio Goes Solo with KS 05 Central Floating Tourbillon https://www.watchtime.com/wristwatch-industry-news/kross-studio-goes-solo-with-ks-05-central-floating-tourbillon/ https://www.watchtime.com/wristwatch-industry-news/kross-studio-goes-solo-with-ks-05-central-floating-tourbillon/#respond Tue, 20 Jun 2023 12:55:00 +0000 https://www.watchtime.com/?p=150313 Kross Studio has made quite a name for itself in a very short period of time. It was founded in 2020 by Marco Tedeschi and was able to partner with some of the greatest names and franchises in the entertainment industry. It has made astonishing and complex watches entirely in Star Wars or Game of Thrones theme, including using a unique collectors case to house them in. Now it is time for Kross Studio to take center stage themselves with the KS 05.

The case design of the KS 05 is similar to what we have seen with some of the collaboration pieces, but the movement and the dial are completely different. Made up out of 220 parts, caliber KS 7’005 is a manual wound movement running at 21,600 VpH (3Hz) and offering a power reserve of 120 hours. What makes it so special is that the mainspring barrel is not only quite large, but also placed on the central axis with the tourbillon placed on top. With a case from grade 5 titanium, the tourbillion literally takes center stage and is the highest point of the movement. The hands are actually mounted on the peripheral, turning around the mainspring barrel and tourbillon. This allows Kross Studio to add a great deal of depth to the design, while maintaining a very clean look.

With the dials, Kross Studio goes old school, opting for materials such as black and blue aventurine glass, jade, turquoise, and many other types of natural stone. As the KS 05 has an inner and outer dial, clients can even combine different types of material for an even more unique watch.

Kross Studio offers the KS 05 with either a titanium or a red gold case, with the option for both to have them set with 281 brilliant-cut diamonds, weighing approximately 5.09 carats. As the case lacks lugs, it gives a very sleek appearance that Kross Studio didn’t want to interfere with a crown. Instead, the back has a D-shaped ring in it, allowing you to wind the watch. When a button on the left side of the case is pushed, it can also be used to set the time. The finishing touch on this sleek design is the domed sapphire crystal, which features an anti-reflective coating on both sides, allowing you to admire the beauty of the dial and the innovative tourbillon construction in all its glory. The KS 05 is limited to 10 numbered pieces in each variety, and the prices start at CHF 88,000, or about $97,000 when converted to USD.

Moritz Grossmann Launches A 4-Piece Limited Edition to Honor Swiss composer Martin Tillman https://www.watchtime.com/wristwatch-industry-news/moritz-grossmann-launches-a-4-piece-limited-edition-to-honor-swiss-composer-martin-tillman/ https://www.watchtime.com/wristwatch-industry-news/moritz-grossmann-launches-a-4-piece-limited-edition-to-honor-swiss-composer-martin-tillman/#respond Tue, 20 Jun 2023 12:02:00 +0000 https://www.watchtime.com/?p=149419 Moritz Grossmann welcomes Martin Tillman as its new brand ambassador and honors the Swiss cellist and composer with a special edition timepiece. The Tillman Electric Cello in stainless steel delights with a perspective that focuses on the aesthetics of the mechanics. In doing so, it also shines a light on the fascinating qualities of a classic musical instrument.

While the details of the movement can be seen in all their beauty via an openwork dial, the fine decoration on the components can be admired through the exhibition case back. There, the exceptional cellist’s electric cello is showcased as a decorative motif, with the silhouette of the instrument carved out.

The body and space between the strings give rise to a velvety texture, which is created by tremblage, a rare handcraft that is cultivated in the workshops of the independent watchmaker. The engraver creates an expressive matte surface using their burin to etch small, almost trembling movements in the metal.

The striking dial view is made possible by a special construction by Moritz Grossmann, the mirrored caliber 107.0. The hand-wound movement is almost inverted, requiring numerous additional constructions, such as changing the direction of rotation of the mainspring barrel and the entire movement. The wheel train runs in the right direction thanks to the mirrored escapement and the mirrored oscillation system – also including the balance spring coiling direction.

This design enables an exceptionally large dial aperture that showcases the sophisticated details of the movement, such as the Grossmann balance, the hand-engraved balance cock, and the ratchet wheel with three-band snailing.

The luxurious look of the Moritz Grossmann Tillman Electric Cello, which is limited to four pieces only, is completed by a supple brown Kudu leather strap. Pricing is marked at $42,190.
